10 ways to spend the month of love in Austin in 2025

It’s officially the month of love, and what better place to spend it in than Austin? February might seem like just another month to mark off the calendar, but there are so many cool events and experiences going on in Austin this month. It might even be one of the busiest months of the year! We’ve compiled our list of our 10 recommendations to make this February full of love and fun. 1. Lunar New Year Festival – February 2
Lunar New Year kicked off on January 29 and concludes on February 12, and the Paper + Craft Pantry is hosting a free festival the first Sunday in February! The festival will feature a variety of Asian-owned small businesses and vendors. They’ll be offering things like food, art and books available for purchase. The festival will also feature lion and dragon dances to celebrate the new year!

2. Jo’s Annual Chili Cook Off – February 2
If it smells like chili on South Congress on Sunday, February 2, you’re not going crazy. This year will be the 18th annual Jo’s and Hotel San José Chili Cook Off benefitting Free Lunch, an organization dedicated to addressing food insecurity in Austin. You can attend for free to enjoy the sights and live music, or you can pay a little bit extra to taste all the fantastic chili! There will be both professionals and amateur cooks participating.

3. ACL Live Free Community Day – February 8
Have you ever wanted to see what goes into the making of the iconic ACL Live? Us too! This year, ACL Live is hosting their first ever community day. They are offering a free, behind-the-scenes tour of the Moody Theater along with live music and free food! They are also offering an interactive ACL Live tour where you can see exclusive photos and stories from the historic TV show.

4. Art in ATX: Black History Month Market – February 15
February is also Black History Month. While there are events going on throughout the entire month, we’re excited for the Black History Month Market taking place at the Austin Beer Garden Brewing Co. The market will feature Black-owned business vendors as well as several live music performances. They’re also offering a flower arrangement workshop for $20!

5. Austin Marathon – February 16
While some of you may want to avoid the downtown area the weekend of February 16, it is undeniable that the Austin Marathon is a special event for the city. Whether you’re running in the marathon, half-marathon or 5K races, supporting friends or just love people watching, it’s the place to be on February 16. If you want to get in on the excitement, registration is still open as well!

6. San Antonio Spurs @ the Moody Center – February 20 & 21
Even though we love our Texas Longhorns and other athletic teams, it’s always a joy when the San Antonio Spurs come to town! They will be playing the Phoenix Suns for two consecutive nights at the beautiful Moody Center facility on UT’s campus. If you’re looking for a new team to support, look no further than the Spurs!

7. The Morning Spin @ Codependent – February 22
It’s no secret – coffee clubs are ALL the rage right now in Austin. From Secret Disco Society to The Morning Spin, they have taken over Saturday mornings in the city! It’s been great for sober, sober-curious or dry January folks in Austin to get that same feeling of going out without the hangover or the lack of sleep. 9. ATX Open – February 22 – March 2
40-love! The ATX Open is back in Austin for its third year of competition and excitement. It’s the only pro-level tennis event held in the city. It’s also the largest women’s sporting event in the city! You can get single-session tickets as well as ticket packages. They’re also offering a ladies day brunch and a player’s party!

10. NASCAR @ COTA – February 28 – March 2
Fall is for F1 and winter (or spring? We’re not 100% sure with the weather forecast) is for NASCAR! NASCAR is back at COTA, and there are a variety of tickets and experiences available. There are also a couple of concerts taking place, so definitely check those out!
